1. GNM (GENERAL NURSING AND MIDWIFERY)

   DURATION: 3 YEARS
   GNM is a diploma course focused on general health care and bedside nursing.
   IMMEDIATE CAREER: You can start working as a Staff Nurse in government or private hospitals, clinics and community health centres.
   GOVERNMENT JOBS: Eligible for State and Central government nursing posts (though some higher-levelposts might prefer a degree).
   HIGHER EDUCATION: To reach the level of a B.Sc. graduate, you can pursue Post Basic B.Sc. Nursing (2 years). This is highly recommended for career growth.
   SPECIALIZATION: After GNM, you can do short-term certificate courses in areas like ICU, Operation Theatre (OT) or Neonatal care.
   

2. B.SC. NURSING

   DURATION: 4 YEARS
   This is a professional degree course that combines clinical practice with research and management training.
   CLINICAL ROLES: Direct entry as a Staff Nurse or Nursing Officer in top-tier hospitals with a higher starting salary compared to GNM .
   LEADERSHIP ROLES: You are eligible for administrative roles like Nursing Superintendent, Ward Incharge, or Department Supervisor.
   TEACHING: You can become a Clinical Instructor or Tutor in nursing colleges immediately.
   HIGHER EDUCATION: You can directly pursue M.Sc. Nursing to specialize in fields like Pediatrics, Oncology or Psychiatric Nursing or even an MBA in Hospital Management.
